Experimental

Craft is a way of life and I love trying new things. So recently when I was given a bag of gorgeous Golden Retriever fur I couldn't wait to experiment. I really enjoy felting and like most things the more you do the better you get. I washed and dried the fur and decided to make a Cocker Spaniel. I was thrilled the way it turned out and I will attempt a Golden Retriever and name her Della, as a thank you to the owner who gave me her fur.

I also had a go at making something out of leather. I purchased a piece of soft white leather in the latter part of last  year. With no tentative steps I leapt into the deep end and made a handbag.
Again I am really chuffed how it turned out. Knowing what alterations to make for the next one and there will be a next one.
Like fur and wool leather is a natural material. I love to use natural materials as much as possible and if I can up-cycle to prevent wastage even better.
Even my latest toy is made from a beautiful vintage angora knit.
This useful patchwork hobo bag is just ready to go into my shop. So do go and have a look. I hope you like what you see and thank you for dropping by.

Kinema in the Woods

Today is Valentine's Day and my hubby of 40 years decided to take me to the Kinema in the Woods at Woodhall Spa to see 'Dad's Army'. I have to admit we hadn't been to the Kinema, though I've heard a lot about it.
The building itself dates to the late 19th century but became a cinema in 1922 - when it showed the 'Lion Eaters' with Charlie Chaplin.
The beautiful interior is like stepping back in time.

Due to it's low beams it doesn't project the film from the back of the auditorium like most cinema. Instead it it is projected from behind the screen onto a mirror to flip the image. It is believed that it is the the only full-time cinema in the UK to still be using this technique.
Also they still have the organ that raising up from the floor during the interval.
This place is a gem, the atmosphere is wonderful and we most certainly return.
Ps. The film was very funny and well worth a watch.

Woodhall Spa is also renowned for the home of the
617 Squadron or better known as 'The Dambusters'.

Spring

It has been a very mild winter here in my little corner of Lincolnshire. Mostly with wind and
rain, but some days fooled you with sunshine
and the birds singing.

I have had daffodils flowering in my garden since Christmas. Yesterday I saw fields of them in full flower as went drove through the countryside.

I always love it when January has ended and you know that Spring is even closer. Spring is a time for regrowth, fresh green leaves, birds nesting, flowers blooming and even the occasional butterfly as they emerge from hibernation.

Chocolate Lasagne

I saw this recipe today in a free supermarket magazine and thought I would share it.

Crush some chocolate biscuits and layer it with chocolate sauce and mascarpone cheese sweetened with icing sugar. Finish off wit a dusting of cocoa powder, then chill before serving.

Enjoy.
