One of my love is the heavy horse. A gentle giant that has given its all to man over the ages whether it be on the battlefield as a War Horse or toiling in the fields, ploughing and pulling heavy loads.
I also love needle felting and what better way than to marry the two. I have been experimenting with armatures and found they are really good with larger projects. So at my WI craft afternoon yesterday I decided to make a Shire horse.
He has been nicknamed 'Shaun' as a friend of mine thought I was making a sheep. Ha ha.
The photograph doesn't do the finished animal justice as you can't see his black mane very well.
Next month I have a trade stand at the Woodhall Spa County Show, Lincolnshire so I intend to make some more heavy horses.
If you are in the area on Sunday May 22nd do come along. It is a great family day out. And come and say hello.
