Woolly Spires

Last week I went to see the Woolly Spires. They are at the moment on display at  St James Church in Louth. A stunning church and is the largest parish church in the country.

Woolly Spires was commissioned by the Collection in Lincoln. Many of our beautiful churches in Lincolnshire where built by wealthy landowners from money they earned from the wool of our iconic Lincoln Longwool. So a group of Lincolnshire churches have been knitted from the wool of this wonderful breed of sheep.
The churches knitted are St Denys' in Sleaford, St Botolphs' in Boston, St Wulframs' in Grantham, St Marys & St Nicholas in Spalding, St James' in Louth and Stow Minster.

They are amazing and the work that has gone into them all is incredible.

If you get the opportunity the are well worth a visit.
