Wonderful Wool

The wonderful wool I was given came from a Swaledale sheep.
It was a bit damp when I received it so after drying out on Beryl I bagged it away until I was ready. I have since washed it and I am in the process of carding on the drum carder, that I have hired from the Guild of Lincolnshire Spinners, Weavers and Dyers.
Eventually I want to get my own.

The speaker at this months Guild meeting was John Arbor and he has a wool mill down in the West Country. He brought with him a huge amount of fabulous fleece. I was like a child in a sweet shop - spoilt for choice. I hadn't intended to buy much, but famous last words. I came away with a beautiful Polwarth blend (75% Merino & 25% Lincoln).
