What is that I hear you say and that is exactly what I said.
Well I will tell you. It is a Lucet.
None the wiser well neither was I.
I discovered that a Lucet is a medieval weaving gadget. Also known as a Lyre, a Lutal and a Chain Fork.
It has been used for thousands of years making ties in medieval times, bodice laces for the Elizabethans, ornamental frogging in the 18th Century and silk watch fobs for the Victorians..
In modern times it would be boot and shoe laces.
You can produce a square cord from almost any material and any size.
So I went onto You Tube to find out how to use it.
I look forward to giving it a go and making use of it in my craft.

Today has been miserable though the wind has dropped and we decided to go and see what was going on at Rundles!
Rundles is based in Lincolnshire and is one of the few companies that still make fairground amusements. Every year they have an open day and invite exhibits of steam engines, classic cars and trucks.
Sadly, the weather kept the crowds away, there were some very interesting things to see.

I've been catching up on some projects lately and this is one of them.
I love to up-cycle where ever possible and this quirky little shoulder bag is no exception. It is in sage green is made from 100% wool, felted and lined with sage green linen. It has 2 punched holes and attached is a pale brown and cream striped strap and there is a pocket on the outside of the flap.
Making a lovely gift.
