Christmas Tree

The evergreen fir has been used to celebrate winter festivals since Pagan times.

The Romans used them to decorate their temples.

Christians used it as a sign of everlasting life.

It is believed the first wooden pyramid trees  represented the Paradise tree. Miracle plays were acted out in Europe on December 24th. This day was Adam and Eve's day.

The first Christmas tree was introduced to England in the 1930's and they became popular when  Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria,  decorated a large tree at Windsor Castle to remind him of his German childhood.

My little tree represents all things handmade.
A step away from the mass produced.

The 12 Days of Folksy

Today is day two of the '12 Days of Folksy' Challenge.
Each day we present a photograph that highlights our handmade crafts.

What better way to celebrate my craft than with a picture of my spinning wheel.

The wonderful feeling of transforming a fleece into yarn.
